REIAN WILLIAMS
From the Edmond Sun:
"As if being featured as the official artist in the Everyone Wins Nominee Gift Bags for 2017 wasn’t enough, Reian Williams was in complete shock when he was asked to return in the same capacity for 2018.
So, what exactly is it that Williams is so excited to participate in for a second year? It’s having his art featured in a gift bag that goes out to a handful of lucky A-List celebrities at Hollywood’s biggest event: the Oscars. Being selected to present his art in the Everyone Wins Nominee Gift Bags last year was a dream come true for Williams. Not only did the distinction result in his art being featured over media outlets around the world, but also he was able to add a few A-List celebrities to his list of collectors in the process. Exceeding his greatest expectations, Williams sees the partnership as a win-win for everyone involved.
“This honor has been a blessing to my brand, the celebrities who now have access to own my work, and to the Oklahoma art community. Never in a million years did I think that the company would break with tradition and ask me back for a second year,” Williams said. “And, of course, the answer was a resounding, Yes!”
While only a select few take home the coveted golden statue, everyone wins thanks to this annual homage to the nominees in the Best Actor and Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Actress and Best Director categories. This year’s nominee gift bag, independently produced for more than a decade by the founders of swag at Distinctive Assets with no official affiliation with the Academy, is once again a blend of fabulous, fun and functional items meant to thrill and pamper those who may have everything money can buy but still savor the simple joy of a gift. A $10,000 gift certificate will be included in the gift bag that can be used to purchase an original piece of artwork or a personalized piece of art. For example, the $12,000 piece featuring Jimi Hendrix can be purchased by presenting the $10,000 certificate plus $2,000 cash.
So, win or lose, Frances McDormand, Daniel Kaluuya, Sally Hawkins, Mary J. Blige, Denzel Washington, Meryl Streep and all the other nominees will have a lot to look forward to the day after the big show.
Williams said he has about 200 hours in the painting of Hendrix that was framed at the Dean Lively Gallery in downtown Edmond. “This is one of my newest favorite pieces of art,” Williams said.
Known across the nation for his masterful work as a hyperrealism artist, Williams is the owner and featured artist of the Hüe Fine Arts Gallery in Edmond. A self-trained artist with a degree in Architectural Design from the University of London, a native son of Oklahoma, Williams returned to his home state in 2014 after living away for close to two decades and now calls Edmond home.
Williams will be leaving Wednesday to accompany his painting to Hollywood where it will be put on display for the Oscars.
Williams resides in north Edmond with his wife Christy."
