JAY HOLOBACH
"Gouache rhymes with squash."
Jay was born and raised in Flint, Michigan. With his wife, Melissa, he has lived in Florida and Tennessee before making Edmond, OK his home since 2018.
After a fulfilling career in corporate training, Jay escaped in 2015, repurposing his priorities and finding his way back into an art studio where he soon was introduced to plein air painting. Discovering gouache, an opaque water color medium, Jay found the perfect painting partner for his outdoor painting adventures.
His landscape paintings provide a way to hold onto a memory in a way a photograph cannot do. Jay creates that memory painting on location carrying his “studio” in his backpack. If the weather's bad, he'll be in the studio enjoying another day of painting.
Believing that art can help heal, Jay volunteers as a “Paint Buddy”, supporting Art with a Heart, a philanthropic organization that pairs artists and children with cancer at the Jimmy Everest Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders in OKC, OK.
Jay is a member of the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition and the Paseo Arts Association. His paintings have been shown in several exhibits and is currently displaying his works at Gallery Grazioso in Guthrie, OK.
